Job Overview:

Required Qualifications

  • Technical Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of mission-critical system design, construction, and the strategy required to deliver all commissioning objectives on time and budget.

  • Certification in flux-cored arc welding (FCAW or FCA) (a semi-automatic or automatic arc welding process)
  • Tack Welding via the welding school
  • Preferred tack welding certification
  • Preferred SMAW and FCAW or FCA certifications

Physical Requirements:

  • Exposure to open-air environments, including noisy, hot, and cold conditions.
  • Required to visit project sites aboard ships and rigs, both onshore and offshore.
  • Must wear various types of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hearing, eye, head, and hand protection, as required.
  • Site visits may involve standing on a variety of surfaces and angles, bending, crouching, and climbing over obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal barge or boat structural components.
  • Exposure to sound levels exceeding 100 decibels.
  • Must possess sufficient visual acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and night vision to inspect marine components and systems, identify defects or irregularities, and safely operate tools and equipment.
  • May work in confined spaces with limited ventilation.
  • Requires prolonged periods of sedentary work, including sitting and/or standing.
  • May be required to operate machinery, power tools, and/or heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively to exchange and comprehend information.
  • Frequent exposure to extreme weather conditions, including high heat and extreme cold.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs. or more, depending on the task requirements.

Job Summary:

  • ESSE Perform all kinds of beveling, welding, layout, and cutting using gas, sector track torches, hand grinders and electric cutting / welding equipment.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to read blueprints and understand GD&T.
  • Minimum of three years of welding or relevant experience preferred.
  • Must have attention and care to prevent injury to others when performing work.
  • Must pass math test.
  • Ability to work in a team environment successfully.
  • Must perform tasks safely as instructed orally and in written format.
  • Ability to read and speak English.
  • Must have knowledge of the metric system.
  • Ability to maneuver up to 200 lbs. independently.
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Must be able to pass forklift training and maintain current company forklift license.
  • Ability to read measuring tapes and calipers.

  • Receives instructions, prints, and work orders for the job.
  • Plans details of working Procedure and tools and material requirements.
  • Bevels parts by cutting and grinding various metals. Repairs parts by using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment.
  • Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded.
  • Builds up worn or defective surfaces.
  • Layout per customer drawings.
  • Uses burning equipment to cut material to size and shape.
  • Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • May be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel regularly.

Work Environment:
